Expanding their live music billing, Craft Pride welcomes critically acclaimed, award-winning guitarist, singer and songwriter, Woody Russell to the stage on Friday, August 30. Taking place in the backyard live music space, there is a $5 cover for the show which kicks off at 6pm with Folk-blues band Blue Your Mind.
Recently named one of the top pizza spots in the country, Via 313 will be slinging authentic Detroit-style pizza throughout the night. Hungry patrons can enjoy the handcrafted square pies paired with one of Craft Pride’s 54 regionally brewed beers.
WHO: Opening its doors earlier this year, Craft Pride is a Texas-only craft beer bar featuring 54 taps of high quality regional brews. From half pints to beer flights, the bar provides craft beer lovers and casual drinkers with local favorites and hard-to-find styles from across the state. Carrying something for everyone, Craft Pride also offers a variety of Texas wines as well as a retail space known as the Bottle Shop, for patrons to order their favorite beer to-go.
Woody Russell, who has released a body of recorded work that spans from the folk-rock infused songwriter fare of his first album, …as simple as that (1996), to his IMA nomination (Album Of The Year) for Salt (2005), to the critically praised blues and soul release, Up Against It (2010). Touring Texas frequently, he has shared billing with artists ranging from Elvis Costello and Richard Thompson to Jimmy Vaughan and Tommy Castro. Known as an exemplary guitarist and singer-songwriter of the highest caliber, Russell delivers seasoned performances with over 25 years as a professional musician under his belt. A prominently featured artist on Season One of the CW Network’s, “Troubadour, TX”, airing weekly in over 20 million households nationwide from September 2011 to 2012, he also toured as one of four artists selected to represent the program. Next month, Russell will release his new album.
A local favorite, playing frequently at Craft Pride, Blue Your Mind blends Harmonica blues with acoustic Folk-blues from some of the greats. The band features “Cornbread” Jason Daly on vocal and guitar, Charlie Gnerre on blue-bop drums and bassman Pat “Foghorn” Molson anchoring this ship.
